Pacal Press play and enjoy some prog metal that isn't bent on mooring itself to the genre's negative connotations. If you have listened to John Yelland's other bands/projects then you'll recognize some familiar trademarks but Principium is a different beast. Heavy, diverse, well-paced, recommended. Favorite track: Skeletons at the Banquet.

about

This album is the greatest album that was released on 11/11/2020 and will always be.

'Principium' marks the band's first release since their 2016 EP 'A Crown of Ashes.' The music reflects the band's growth as both musicians and artists, moving from 80s-inspired melodies to technical prog riffing and song arrangements.
Album pre-orders, including CD/t-shirt packages, will be announced in the very near future. Tons of content has been prepared to coincide with the release, including photos, interviews, playthroughs, and multiple music videos.
Vocalist John Yelland states, "This is going to be one of the most special albums I've helped create. I wrote 'The Echoing Green' and 'Songs of Experience' when I was 20 years old, so for them to finally see the light of day via Principium is so meaningful. I think people will be surprised by how moody and soulful this album is."
Drummer and co-founder Casey Frederick says, "This album is a culmination of where we have been and where we are going. It includes old material from before the band existed and new material; see Jordan’s song, 'King'."
The cover artwork for 'Principium' was made by the incredibly talented Jml2art, and the album itself was mixed and mastered by Randy Beasterfield.
